Matchday 34 - Kilmarnock

Breathing room at Pittodrie

Aremu Ignites the Revival as Dons Move Eight Points Clear

What a difference a week makes. After the hiatus of the Scottish Cup semi-finals, Aberdeen returned to Premiership action with a singular mission: survival. On Saturday, we took a massive step toward that goal with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Kilmarnock.

Lightning Start, Resilient Finish

It took only 55 seconds for Afeez Aremu to send the Pittodrie faithful into a frenzy, firing home a low drive following a clever lay-off from Stuart Armstrong. While the early goal set the stage, it was the defensive grit, bolstered by the return of Mats Knoester and Dennis Geiger that saw the game out. With Dimitar Mitov pulling off world-class saves and the woodwork on our side, the Dons secured a second straight clean sheet.

Celebrating Excellence

Away from the pitch, the club gathered at P&J Live for the 2025/26 Player of the Year Awards. Mats Knoester took home the “double,” winning both the Men’s Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year. For the Women’s team, Hannah Stewart dominated the night with a hat-trick of awards, while young stars like Maddie Finnie and Dylan Lobban were also recognised for their standout campaigns.

The Road Ahead

While the mood is high, the job isn’t finished. With a trip to Livingston looming this Friday, Stephen Robinson’s side knows we must maintain this momentum. The SPFL has confirmed the 2026/27 fixture release for June 18th, our goal is to ensure it’s the Premiership list we’re looking at.
