Matchday 36 - Dundee Utd

Clinical Dons Close In On Seventh

The “Danger Zone” is finally in the rearview mirror.

Going into Sunday, the math for Aberdeen was simple: find that elusive win, cement safety, and put a turbulent season to bed. Under the Pittodrie sun, Stephen Robinson’s men did exactly that with a professional 2-0 victory over Dundee United.

The Olusanya Factor

While Stuart Armstrong grabbed the opening goal in the 19th minute, the afternoon belonged to Toyosi Olusanya. Described by fans on DonsTalk as “unplayable,” Olusanya’s sheer physicality was too much for the United backline. He provided the assist for the first and reacted quickest to smash home the second in the 89th minute, his first goal for the club.

The win marks three straight home victories and three straight clean sheets, a defensive turnaround that has many looking upward rather than over their shoulders.

Summer Rebuild: The Robinson Revolution?

Off the pitch, the headlines are just as busy. Manager Stephen Robinson has signaled a potential U-turn regarding academy stars Alfie Bavidge and Alfie Stewart. Following their starring roles in Inverness’s League One title win, the pair have been called back for assessment.

Meanwhile, the club is fighting on two major fronts: securing Graeme Shinnie on a new deal to maintain the squad’s “culture” and bracing for interest in star goalkeeper Dimitar Mitov, whose stock has soared following Scottish Cup heroics.

Women’s Victory & The Final Push

It was also a celebratory weekend for Aberdeen Women, who gave the Balmoral faithful a 4-0 send-off against Hamilton Accies. Goals from Darcie Miller, Francesca Ogilvie, Hannah Stewart, and Bridget Galloway ensure the side carries vital momentum into the upcoming relegation play-offs.

What’s Next? The season isn’t over yet. We have two fixtures remaining:
