Recap
Just when you thought we were getting a bit of form on, this match against Motherwell proved otherwise and must certainly worry the manager and Dons supporters alike as we head into the Scottish League Cup Final at Hampden a week on Sunday.
Michael Devlin was ruled out of this match with a foot injury whilst training with the Scotland squad, with Andy Considine replacing him in the starting line-up.
The near 1,200 travelling Dons support were subjected to a woeful performance, gifting an opening goal midway through the first-half which came directly from a short corner kick collected by Niall McGinn, and then he sent a blind pass upfield that then Danny Johnson got onto, one-on-one with Shay Logan and onto goal.
Johnson was on the scoreboard five minutes later, making it 2-0 after the Dons failed to deal with a corner kick hit towards the near post that was deflected up, for Johnson to hit the target yet again.
At half-time Derek McInnes, put on Sam Cosgrove, replacing the ineffective James Wilson to see if that would boost our chances.
It wasn’t long through before Motherwell were 3-0 up, after an attempted clearance from Andy Considine hit off Curtis Main and fell towards David Turnbull who drilled the goal home past Joe Lewis.
A lot to ponder for Derek McInnes, ahead of the Scottish League Cup Final.
