Recap
In what is becoming a familiar turn of phrase, it was an uneventful first half for the Dons at Dens Park, the highlight of the day though is, Sam Cosgrove hitting the 20 goals mark for the season so far.
Aberdeen made one change to the line-up that faced Motherwell midweek, Greg Stewart replacing the injured Dean Campbell.
And there wasn’t much to see in the first half, with nothing really happening until 20th minute, when Scott Mckenna saw his shot deflected past.
Craig Curran hit over Joe Lewis’ goal from 30 yards five minutes later.
Although the Dons were in control of the match, it just wasn’t happening for them up front.
Dundee went close after Ethan Robson hit the left post, with a looping strike, and in the 42nd minute, Aberdeen should have been awarded a penalty. Lewis Ferguson went past three Dees players, he played in Connor McLennan and broke through a challenge to the right and crossed the ball which was stopped by the outstretched arm of Paul McGowan, but Andrew Dallas wasn’t interested.
Just before half time, Aberdeen could have gone ahead through Dom Ball. A Greg Stewart cross deep into the Dens box, but Ball couldn’t get a touch.
Shortly into the second half, Sam Cosgrove was pulled down by Ryan McGowan , but McGinn fire the resultant free kick on the edge of the box over.
And Lewis Ferguson, tipped a long-range effort over from Dundee’s O’Sullivan.
On the break from the corner, Max Lowe fed Ferguson but was taken down by Moore in the Dees area, with Dallas giving the penalty for Aberdeen.
Sam Cosgrove stepped up and hit the spot-kick into the bottom left corner of goal in the 59th minute.
And it didn’t take long for Sam to hit his second. Connor McLennan went through several challenges on the left, cut back to the edge of the six yard box and gave Cosgrove the perfect opportunity to hit a left footed finish into goal and securing his 20th goal of the season.
Aberdeen close again into the final minutes of the match, Graeme Shinnie had a low curling shot saved by Dieng, before Lewis Ferguson hit the bar in the 89th minute.
Stevie May who came on for Greg Stewart in the 82nd minute had a long distant shot stopped in injury time.
The Dons saw out another win at Dens Park and now look ahead to Hampden Park next Sunday for the Scottish Cup Semi-Final against Celtic.
