Nisbet Sinks Hibs, Mowbray Returns, and the Survival Mission Begins
What a difference ninety minutes makes. Heading into the weekend, the DonsTalk forums were a sea of pessimism, with many fans bracing for a meek surrender against Hibs. Instead, Aberdeen delivered a massive boost to Stephen Robinson’s rebuilding job with a clinical 2-0 victory at Pittodrie.
A Pitch-Perfect Legends Day
The pre-match atmosphere was charged with emotion as the club celebrated its inaugural Legends Day, honouring the one and only ‘King of the Beach End,’ Joe Harper. On the pitch, the current crop of players didn’t disappoint.
The game swung heavily in our favour just 14 minutes in. Following a VAR review, Hibs’ Grant Hanley was issued a straight red card for a tangle with Toyosi Olusanya. Kevin Nisbet stepped up to coolly dispatch the resulting penalty against his former club. From there, it was a masterclass in control, capped off in the 75th minute when Nisbet smashed a powerful effort off the underside of the bar to seal his brace. With a vital clean sheet for Dimitar Mitov, the “Big Red Juggernaut” finally looks to be getting back on track.
Boardroom Moves: The Return of Mowbray
Lightning rarely strikes twice, but Aberdeen are betting the house that it can. Darren Mowbray is officially back as Head of Recruitment. As the fourth man to hold the role in five years, Mowbray’s track record stands alone; during his first stint, he turned a £3 million outlay into over £10 million in sales by spotting gems like Bojan Miovski and Duk. The board is desperate for a winning formula, and they’ve turned back to the man with the Midas touch.
In other positive news, Lutz Pfannenstiel is leading negotiations to secure the future of 19-year-old midfielder Findlay Marshall. Currently shining on loan at Arbroath with 11 goals in 32 games, Marshall is viewed by Stephen Robinson as a massive part of the club’s future and is on the verge of signing a long-term deal.
The Post-Split Battle
The SPFL has officially revealed the post-split fixtures for the 2025/26 Premiership season, and for the Dons, the mission is simple: survival. Currently sitting in the bottom six after a turbulent campaign, five games stand between Aberdeen and safety.

Across Scottish Football
It was a week of incredible highs and lows for Dons loanee Alfie Stewart. The 19-year-old scored a sensational long-range free-kick for Inverness CT in the Challenge Cup final, but two costly mistakes helped Raith Rovers secure a 4-1 victory. Stewart has been told he will leave Aberdeen this summer, making him a prime target for a permanent move to the Highlands.
Elsewhere, the Highland League provided the drama of the weekend. Brora Rangers retained the title by a single point on the final day, relying on a stoppage-time equalizer against Huntly while their title rivals, Brechin City, collapsed to a 4-1 defeat against Turriff United.
