Aberdeen dropped points, after being held to a 1-1 against Hamilton on Wednesday night.
Seven players were out of this one due to injury and COVID-19 isolation. Dylan McGeouch, Scott Wright, Marley Watkins and Jonny Hayes were all out due to injury. Ross McCrorie, Lewis Ferguson and Connor McLennan were self-isolating.
Niall McGinn returned to the bench. Curtis Main and Dean Campbell came into the starting line-up at the expense of Shay Logan and Ryan Edmondson.
We had the opening chance on the second minute of the game. Matty Kennedy’s left footed shot from outside the box flew over.
Ryan Hedges put the Dons ahead in the 19th minute. Hedges picked up a ball into the penalty area from Matty Kennedy and he hit the shot into the back of the net from 15 yards.
Sam Cosgrove had an opportunity moments later, firing a drvie which Ryan Fulton pushed wide.
Curtis Main went close in the 38th minute, picking up a cross from Andy Considine. He fired his low effort across the face of goal. Ryan Fulton failed to grab the ball, but there was no Aberdeen player to pick it up and Brian Easton cleared it from danger.
Greg Leigh had a chance in the 48th minute, picking up a cross from Matty Kennedy – his headed shot went wide.
However, a minute later, Hamilton equalised from a McMann free kick. Marios Ogkmpoe beat the Dons defence and headed the ball into the bottom corner of the net.
That seemed to spur Hamilton into action, with no real opportunities for Aberdeen as the second half progressed.
In the 77th minute, Derek McInnes tried to freshen things up with Greg Leigh and Curtis Main coming of, to be replaced by Niall McGinn and Ryan Edmondson.
A loose ball following a Matty Kennedy shot on goal was picked up by Ryan Hedges, but his effort was blocked by Lee Hodson who hit it wide for the corner.
Joe Lewis saved us from embarassment in injury time when he dived to save a drive from David Moyo.
All-in-all a disappointing night and a worryiing lack of desire in the second half tonight.
The Dons do move into third in the Scottish Premiership, a point above Hibs with one game in hand – but we should have taken all three to go one point behind Cetlic in second.
