Optimism was high heading into the weekend, but it evaporated within 15 minutes in Ayrshire. A 3-0 defeat to Kilmarnock halted the Dons’ momentum and handed the hosts a lifeline in their relegation battle. RUMOUR: French playmaker Adil Aouchiche was absent from the squad on Saturday, with reports suggesting he is in advanced talks with German giants Schalke 04.

AFC Women: Late Drama at New Douglas Park

The drama wasn’t reserved for the men’s team. Aberdeen Women played out a frantic 2-2 draw against Hamilton Accies on Sunday. Despite going down early, a goal from Darcie Miller – a stunning lob over the keeper, helped salvage a point. The team also received a boost with the return of midfielder Brodie Greenwood and the signing of Naomi McLaughlin.

Looking Ahead

There is no time to dwell on defeat. The Dons face a massive midweek test against Celtic at Pittodrie this Wednesday (8 pm KO), followed by a home clash with Motherwell on Saturday.
