Matchday 27 and Matchday 28

Frustrating Away Days, Backroom Additions, and a Ticketing Revolution

We have officially crossed into March, which means the business end of the season is upon us. Unfortunately, it’s been a highly frustrating week on the road for Aberdeen, and we break it all down on this week’s episode of the AFC DONScast.

Tough Trips to Tannadice and Tynecastle

We started the week with a trip down the A90 to face Dundee United. The winter-battered Tannadice pitch proved to be a great leveller in a gritty 0-0 draw. Despite Aberdeen dominating second-half possession, the game will be remembered for that open-goal miss from Kevin Nisbet.

Things didn’t get much better in the capital against Hearts. Despite a resolute display and a much-improved second half with Dimitar Mitov making crucial saves, Aberdeen fell 1-0 at Tynecastle. The depressing statistic remains: Aberdeen still haven’t scored a single away goal all year, and our top-six dreams are hanging by the thinnest of threads.

Off-The-Pitch Updates

It wasn’t just match analysis this week; we had a mountain of news to get through:

  • Backroom Additions: Peter Leven has bolstered his staff with the appointment of Ian Burchnall as the new First Team Coach.

  • A Ticketing Revolution: Aberdeen has announced a massive commercial partnership with an American tech company called Jump, which will take over the club’s ticketing and fan experience platforms next season.

  • Season Tickets: The 2026/27 season tickets officially go on sale Tuesday, March 3rd.

  • Player News: 19-year-old striker Alfie Bavidge will be leaving the club on a free transfer this summer, and former Dons defender Ash Taylor has announced his retirement from professional football.

Looking Ahead

We’ve got a crucial run of fixtures coming up, starting with a blockbuster under the lights at Pittodrie as Aberdeen hosts Celtic on Wednesday, March 4th.
