Recap
The last time we had seven straight away wins was in the 70/71 season, and that was achieved today by a double from Graeme Shinnie against St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park.
Aberdeen made two changes to the side that met St Mirren the weekend previous.
Dominic Ball came in for the injured Tommie Hoban, Niall McGinn dropped to the bench with Connor McLennan getting a place in the starting line-up.
And it was Aberdeen that went ahead after Ball took the ball off Kennedy before putting a pass to Graeme Shinnie.
Shinnie then got past Sean Goos before hitting a right footed shot beyond Cammy Bell from the edge of the box.
Shinnie also saved the day after Max Lowe lost possession in the St Johnstone half when he was going forward, which created a space at the back with Sean Goss took advantage of to release Chris Kane on goal, luckily Graeme came in with a tackle to dispossess him.
Lewis Ferguson who renewed his Dons contract this week, had a chance early in the second-half, firing a 20-yard drive across the face of goal.
Connor McLennan had a close chance shortly after, after collecting a pass from Greg Stewart, but blasted the shot over from 12 yards.
Graeme Shinnie was in the thick of the action again and scored out second after powering up the park and unleashing a left footed 25-yarder beyond Cammy Bell, putting the Dons 2-0 ahead and securing all three points to remain third in the Scottish Premiership on 50 points.
Derek McInnes revealed before the came that Shay Logan who went off in our Scottish Cup match against Queen of the South requires ankle surgery and could be out for the remainder of the season.
He is considering bringing in a free agent to cover for the player as well as Tommie Hobam.
“It will be touch and go if we can get him (Logan) back before the end of the season,” said McInnes. “We were hoping we might be able to him manage him through to the end of the season but on Thursday afternoon it became clear he needed some work done. We will look to maybe try and bring in another defender on the out of contract list.”
