Recap
Aberdeen opened up their pre-season campaign with a 0-0 draw against Connah’s Quay Nomads at the Fota Island Resort, Cork, Ireland on Saturday (29 June 2019).
Whilst Scott Wright came off after a clash late in the first half, there were no new fresh injury worries following the match.
There was a start for new boys, Ryan Hedgesm Jon Gallagher and Greig Leigh. Ash Taylor and Curtis Main came off the bench. Craig Bryson is still out with an ankle injury. Stevie May didn’t take part as he was suffering from a virus.
And whilst it was a 0-0 affair, the Dons had plenty of chances. Lewis Ferguson had the first shot in the fifth minute, firing just wide of the post following by Shay Logan who fired over in the 16th minute.
With the balmy conditions, there was a short break after half an hour for the players to take on water.
The Dons introduced Curtis Main for his debut to play alongside Sam Cosgrove.
Ash Taylor came on for the start of the second half and Sam Cosgrove was denied an opener in the 55th minute, after his drive from the edge of the penalty area was pushed wide by Nomad’s keeper Lewis Brass.
Seb Ross was next to step up for the Dons for a chance on goal, his header just going wide across goal in the 80th minute.
The Dons head home now, with a meeting against Peterhead at Balmoor on Wednesday.
