AFC DONScast

In January 2022 we announced the closure of the Inverness Reds website, but following the amount of feedback we had, we kept it ticking along for a wee bit longer than anticipated.

However, we have taken the decision, after 24 years, to close the Inverness Reds website at the end of the 2022/23 season. A fitting time, following the 40th anniversary of our European Cup Winners’ Cup win.

We started the website in 1999 in the days of dialup (for our younger audience, ask your parents!) – it was then known as Inverness Reds Online. It went through two further name changes, Reds Online and afc1903 before landing back at just plain old Inverness Reds.

The site has been operated as non-profit making – financed by certain individuals of the Inverness Reds supporters club over the years, but with each passing year, it has cost more to maintain to a point it is no longer sustainable. We automated elements of the site to see if that would help, but ultimately due to increased hosting costs, the savings from the automation were cancelled out.

With the closure of the website, it also means our daily news updates and live score and match stats updates will also no longer be available on our social media platforms.

Inverness Reds Aberdeen FC Supporters Club

The Inverness Reds Aberdeen FC Supporters Club will still continue. Whilst we haven’t been able to run supporters buses this season – the club itself will continue to run.

We’ll still be on social media – however we will not be providing our daily news or matchday updates. If you haven’t already followed or friended us, you can join us on there:

The AFC DONScast will still be available every Tuesday from 8pm on all popular podcast platforms and we’ll be launching a new dedicated website for it for the start of next season.
