Greg Tansey Leaves Aberdeen Football Club

Aberdeen this evening has confirmed the departure of Greg Tansey from the club.

The club confirmed on their website that: “we have reached a settlement to terminate Greg Tansey’s contract.

“Everyone at the club wishes Greg all the very best in his future career.”

Greg has subsequently signed an 18 month contract with St Mirren until the Summer of 2020.

Greg signed for Aberdeen on a three-year deal in 2017, arriving from Caley Thistle.  His time at Pittodrie has been affected by a groin injury which he developed soon after he had signed for the club.  Despite two operations to fix the problem, it kept the midfielder out of action since his final first team appearance, a 3-0 loss to The Rangers at Ibrox in November 2017.

Tansey was sent on loan to Ross County in the second half of last season, where he continued to struggle with the groin injury that ultimately led to the decision today.
