City Council Publish Beach Stadium Proposals

Aberdeen City Council have published their proposals for a new beach stadium as part of their masterplan for the beachfront which will be discussed by Councillors at a meeting next Wednesday (25 August 2021).

The proposals would see a new Aberdeen FC stadium being built next to a beach leisure centre site.

The new beach stadium would have a capacity of between 16,000 to 20,000 with on-site parking for between 800 and 1200 vehicles and 60 coaches.

It comes after Aberdeen FC’s plans for a new £50m 20,000-seater stadium proposed for Kingsford, near Westhill, were given a legal go-ahead in March 2019.

In a statement the club said it “remains supportive of the council’s ambitious vision” for both the city centre and the beachfront.

“We’re really impressed with both the scale and pace of the work to date.

“A new stadium at the beach, as part of an integrated approach to leisure and community amenities, is very exciting and we will continue to input constructively to the various consultations and studies which will inform the final plans”.
