Scott McKenna To Serve Two Match Ban

Aberdeen have failed in their bid to overturn Scott McKenna’s two match ban cited by the SFA.

McKenna was issued with a fast-track notice of complaint by the SFA on Wednesday offering the ban which Aberdeen rejected, which then prompted a hearing this afternoon at Hampden.

A Dons statement on the club website said:  “The Fast Track Notice of Complaint issued to Scott McKenna by the Scottish FA has this afternoon been proven.

“As a result Scott will now face a two match suspension, effective immediately.

“The club is extremely disappointed with this outcome.”

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes said prior to the hearing that he was “astonished” McKenna faced a potential two-game ban.

“I am very surprised and disappointed it has been raised,” said McInnes.

“I accept in some pictures it doesn’t look great but it is a clearance; it is a football act. It is not as if he has ran to the player and lunged into him.

“For me, I thought the referee dealt with it at the time. I am sure if the referee looks at it again, he wouldn’t be issuing a red card.

“We’ve denied there has been any serious foul play.”

Scott will now not face St Mirren this weekend or Hearts on 20 October 2018.
