Rail Engineering News Update

Ahead of the new season starting in August, supporters who travel by train between Inverness and Aberdeen are reminded that rail services are still suspended between Dyce and Aberdeen.

The disruption is to enable Network Rail Scotland to double-track the section of track between Aberdeen and Dyce.

The Inverness to Aberdeen line is closed until Monday 20 August 2018

Trains from Inverness to Aberdeen will start/terminate from Dyce Platform 2.

Buses will replace trains between these locations and may lead to services departing or arriving later/earlier between Inverness, Elgin and Aberdeen.

Supporters should also be aware, shortly after this closure, the line is planned to be closed again as follows:

  • between Huntly and Elgin from midnight on Friday 24 August to 0550 on Monday 27 August 2018 (Aberdeen are away to Hibs);
  • between Huntly and Elgin from midnight on Friday 31 August to 0550 on Monday 3 September 2018 (Aberdeen are at home to Kilmarnock);

Buses will replace trains between Keith and Inverurie during this period.
