McLennan, McCrorie and Ferguson Sidelined Due to COVID-19 Outbreak in Scotland U21 Squad

Aberdeen have confirmed that Ross McCrorie has tested positive for COVID-19 following his return from international duty with the Scotland U21’s and a member of our first team squad has had a positive test for COVID-19.

McCrorie, who is asymptomatic has been self isolating since receiving the result.

Two further players (Conor McLennan and Lewis Ferguson), who were also part of the Scotland U21 squad, will also be required to self-isolate having been identified as close contacts as a result of the aircraft and bus seating manifests.

That means Connor McLennan, Ross McCrorie and Lewis Ferguson will all be out for the games against Rangers, Hamilton and our League Cup match against St Mirren.  Ross cannot play in the Rangers game anyway, due to the terms of his loan from Rangers this season.

No other members of the first team or coaching staff at Cormack Park have tested positive, either during this week’s routine testing or since August.

The club have asked for further assurances from the Scottish FA to ensure our players remain safe whilst on international duty.

In total, eleven U21 players and two backroom staff are self-isolating following three positive COVID-19 tests in the Scotland U21 squad.
