Advanced Notice of Rail Disruption

Aberdeen supporters should be aware of significant disruption to rail services between Aberdeen and Dyce as part of the Aberdeen to Inverness Rail Improvement Project later this year.

The disruption is to enable Network Rail Scotland to double-tracking of the section of track between Aberdeen and Dyce in two stages.

As a result, this may affect fans travelling to Aberdeen matches along the Inverness to Aberdeen rail corridor at the end of the current season, or for European matches in June/July and the start of the 2018/19 season.

  • The line will be closed between Aberdeen and Dyce from midnight on Saturday 5 May 2018 through to 0610 on Monday 7 May 2018.
  • This will then be followed by a 14-week closure of the line between midnight on Friday 11 May 2018 through to 0610 on Monday 20 August 2018.

Aberdeen – Inverness services will start/terminate from Dyce Platform 2.

Buses will replace trains between these locations and may lead to services departing or arriving later/earlier between Aberdeen, Elgin and Inverness.

More information about the disruption will be available nearer the time.

Supporters should also be aware, shortly after this closure, the line is also planned to be closed again as follows:

  • between Huntly and Elgin from midnight on Friday 24 August 2018 to 0550 on Monday 27 August 2018;
  • between Huntly and Elgin from  midnight on Friday 31 August 2018 to 0550 on Monday 3 September 2018;

Buses will replace trains between Keith and Inverurie during this period.

The Inverness Reds will of course, continue to be running their supporters bus for any matches during this period.  More details about our buses will appear on the website.
