Aberdeen Sign Midfielder Ross McCrorie On A Four-Year Deal

Aberdeen have signed Ross McCrorie from Rangers on a four year deal until 2024.

Ross’s first season with the Dons will be on loan from Rangers, with the deal becoming permanent from next summer.

The 22 year old has been subject to offers from Hibs and spent last season on loan at Portsmouth.

McCrorie, will be ineligible to play against Rangers this season due to the terms of his season-long loan deal.

Derek McInnes said: “He is the type of signing we should be doing at this club, a young Scottish talent and somebody that I have admired for a couple of seasons and every transfer windows that came up I was alway keen to see exactly where he was in the pecking order there,

“Obviously he had a loan spell at Portsmouth last season and when the opportunity came obviously we’re restricted what we can do in terms spending a fee, but when the opportunity came any fee could be delayed till next season.

“We were delighted to try at least have that chance to bring him here and once we got the opportunity and permisssion to speak to him I couldn’t be more impressed with the boy.

“I spoke to a lot of people who have worked with him before a lot of our lads know him from the international setup, the 21’s and a lot of my staff have been involved with him at the 21’s and have always spoke highly of him as a boy.

“I think you can see it, I don’t know him as well as I am going to know him.  I think I know what he is and what he brings is stature, a young Scottish talent, 22 years of age, coming to us in a four year deal.  We couldn’t have been more pleased with that signing.

“Unfortunately the paperwork is no quite through to get him onto the pitch quite yet, and we’re waiting for that.  But we will do a session with him later on this afternoon all being well with the paperwork.

“He is itching to get going.  He’s a managers dream.  He can play in several positions.  I’ve spoken to Ross where we think we can get the best out of him, but he is happy to play anywhere and happy to be at Aberdeen, which is the important thing.”

Aberdeen FC asked us earlier in the evening to remove the post until the signing was made official.

There was also an issue with the backend server of RedTV which wrote over previous videos and the published interviews appeared.  The club will be raising this with Stream Digital, who manage the platform, tomorrow morning.
