Aberdeen Announce 2020/21 End of Season Awards

Ahead of the Aberdeen v Hibs match this evening, the club announced the player awards  for this season on RedTV.

The following awards were made:

  • Development Player of the Year – Jack Mackenzie
  • Young Player of the Year – Lewis Ferguson
  • Players Player of the Year – Ryan Hedges
  • Goal of the Season – Lewis Ferguson’s strike against Hamilton Accies in October 2020
  • Player of the Year – Ryan Hedges
  • Community Supporter of the Year – The Red Army

On receiving the Young Player of the Year Award, Lewis Ferguson said: “I am delighted to win, it is always nice to win an individual award but it is a team game and you don’t get these awards without your team mates and the staff so I have to thank them as well. It has been a tough season but I have always enjoyed playing here and I have also enjoyed playing in every game.”

Jack Mackenzie said on his Development Player of the Year accolade: “It feels good to win the award. It has been a long and tough season but I am really enjoying my football. I have loved every minute of it. I am looking for more and I need to take it by the scruff of the neck and to go and grab my opportunity.”

And commenting on his Players Player  and Player of the Year Award, Ryan Hedges said: “It is a massive honour to be thought of as the player of the year by my team mates. It is something that I am extremely proud of. We have a good group of guys in the dressing room and even when results haven’t gone our way our heads haven’t dropped. We all look out for one another and it helps that we are all friends off the pitch as well.

“You can see what the manager wants to work towards and for the few weeks that I have been training I have been impressed with the intensity and the work ethic he is trying to instill into the team. Hopefully we can build on this year as we look ahead to next season.”

“It is nice to win both awards. To be voted for by the fans is a massive achievement, thank you to everyone who voted for me.”
