Eirinn McCafferty Joins Aberdeen Women

Eirinn McCafferty has joined Aberdeen Women ahead of the start of their season kick-off this Sunday.

The 22-year-old defender has spent time with the Dons squad before signing for Aberdeen.

She started her footballing career with Monifieth FC before joining Dundee Utd, helping them win two leagues and the league cup.

A Scotland Under 19, Eirinn opted to purse a scholarship in America with Queens University of Charlotte, North Carolina in 2018 before returning to Scotland four years later to sign with Forfar Farmington.

Commenting on her signing, Eirinn said: “I’m really happy to be here. There is a great squad at the Club, and I am excited to see what we can do this season.

“Training has been intense and of a really high standard. I know Gavin Beith from my time at Dundee United, and a few players from the nation camps so that has really helped me settle. There is a really good set up here at Aberdeen, especially the training facilities at Cormack Park.

“It was great experience to play in America, but it is good to be home and I am looking forward to seeing what AFC Women can achieve this season.”

Gavin Beith, AFC Women co-manager added: “We are delighted to welcome Eirinn into squad. She adds quality, versatility and has experience of playing SWPL1 football from her time at Forfar Farmington which will prove extremely valuable.

“Eirinn is someone I’ve known for a long time.  She’s a good character with a great work ethic and we look forward to seeing her play for Aberdeen this season.”
